Chris Chapman and The Paypal Complaints Policy

I recently made the mistake of buying an ebook (36 Ways) from Chris Chapman of Affiliate Answers.

The short version of the story is that when I first made the purchase, instead of being re-directed to the download page I was ‘accidently’ bounced to yet another sales page for another site.

I emailed Chris Chapman (affiliate-answers.com) but got no reply. Only when I filed a complaint with Paypal did he email the correct download link.

The book itself (36 Ways To Promote Affiliate Programs) was not well written (IMHO and all that) and out-of-date in places. Clearly Chris had secured resell rights of sorts and thought it appropriate to pitch to his opt-in list.

So, I asked for a refund. No reply. Log your request at our support site. No reply.

Mistake Number 2: I closed the complaint with the Paypal (for non-receipt) thinking I’d be able to raise a second complaint (for supply of inferior products) but you can’t. Paypal will only allow one complaint per transaction so if you do have a problem with a dodgy seller, your only choice is to keep it open… and wait.

I emailed Paypal ’support’ but they must have out-sourced to the same people that do support for most large utility companies. Their only interest being to get the support request closed without actually being any help. The first email I got back from them just said ‘this issue is closed’ (I am a robot) and even had the cheek to end the email with that classic phrase “It is my pleasure to assist you”.

Buyer beware!
