US Federal Trade Commission Wanting Disclosure From Affiliates?

There’s an interesting debate taking place over at the ReveNews blog. Basically an article has appeared in the Washington Post that states that the FTC want anyone engaged in word of mouth marketing to fully disclose their relationship with the merchant.

Fortunately, I don’t think the FTC have global jurisdiction but imagine if they did… Would all affiliate websites, or sites carrying any form of third party advertising, have to carry a warning? Absolutely ludicrous and I wish these bureaucrats would get real.
