Why Affiliate Marketing
Affiliate marketing is an internet-based form of marketing where a merchant compensates a network of affiliated websites for each unique visitor they attract to the business as a result of the affiliate marketing.
While many online retailers continue to shy away from this practice as a viable marketing practice, affiliates are more often than not part of a merchant’s online marketing program. In fact, a good deal of online retailers have adopted affiliate marketing because of the reduced financial risk involved. Furthermore, affiliate marketing can enhance the other more high-profile online marketing methods such as SEO, bookmarking and PPC marketing. It can also involve {usingĀ Private Label Rights}
Here’s something for you to know, affiliate marketing is at its most effective when used strategically with other internet marketing methods including: SEO, paid search engine marketing and e-mail marketing. Websites using Web 2.0 practices, such as blogging, user communities and RSS feeds have found an even greater use for affiliate marketing practices.
Affiliate marketing networks tend to vary in structure. The majority are structured in a single tier and pay commission based on where a site sits within a predetermined hierarchy. Two-tier programs also exist but are in the great minority. Not to be confused with multi-level marketing (MLM) or network marketing programs which have more requirements in order to get paid a commission, affiliate marketing programs have few requirements for involvement.
In terms of affiliate revenue, it is commonplace for merchants to use the cost per sale (CPS) method. This CPS method works like this: if a customer visits an affiliate marketer’s website, clicks on a link sending them to the merchant’s site and then performs a transaction at the merchant’s site, the affiliate marketer is paid. Older methods including cost per mile are becoming less common for compensating affiliates
“Survival of the fittest” is the only real or effective regulating concept currently in place in the world of affiliate marketing. Those affiliate marketers who do well work as homesteaders much like their predecessors in the “Wild Wild West” which may account for the many failed attempts at creating an industry-wide standard operating procedure for affiliate marketers.
As a conclusion, almost anyone can be an affiliate marketer at the comfor of their home. Many people have made money in affiliate marketing so I believe that you can also do it.
