Affiliates World October Newsletter
So, what’s been happening?
Well, I guess the big news is the purchase of YouTube by Google for 1.6 billion something or other. Tsk, I can’t people believe sell out so easily!
In all seriousness, it is a shame that another company is being swallowed up by Google and I wonder if one day we’ll all rue this dominance. Ginternet anyone?
Personally, I try to do what I can by varying who I use to search (tip: try Copernic Agent ~ it comes in different versions, including free).

Brad Fallon and Andy Jenkins successfully launched StomperNet. At just under $800 per month, it is a significant investment but I’m sure those that got on board will get value. I didn’t take the plunge but might consider it come the day I sell my own products.
If you did join, please let me know how it works for you.

I attended the A4U affiliate get together in London a couple of weeks ago. Approximately 460 people on a boat going up and down the Thames. This was a nice, informal event sponsored by eBay, buy.at and others. Free food, drink (hic!) and music all led to a good day and I’m sure there was a lot of new business generated as well.
These are great places to meet with affiliate networks, merchants and other affiliates so if you’ve not been along, try and get to an event near you at some point soon.
If you haven’t already registered with this UK based forum, I suggest you do: http://www.a4uforum.co.uk/. My user name is ‘affiliates’ and whilst I’m not as active as some, I do dip in from time to time to get a feel for what’s going on in the industry.

If you’ve been following the ‘death of Adsense’ debate, you may already have seen this:
http://www.lifeafteradsense.com/results/
Basically, the author, sent out a survey of those people who joined his original list.
Regardless of whether you’re an AdSense publisher or not, it makes for interesting reading.
As previously mentioned, Google closed my account recently though I still don’t know why! I suspect it was because I had fallen foul of the ‘thou shalt not use traffic exchanges’ rule but as they won’t reply, I can only speculate. My community service ends next week.

Last but not least… I’ve just uploaded a new video. If you do anything with ‘keywords’ e.g. set up pay per click campaigns, you may want to take a peek.
I ramble on longer than I should’ve (just under 12 minutes) but if you can bear it, please take a look here: Keyword Companion Video
I’ve noticed in my browser that the video doesn’t automatically play. If that happens to you, just move the slider a fraction. Technology.
