AdWords Update
One of my major affiliate campaigns using AdWords attained 2 sales yesterday. Income = $110, Cost = $16. Good you may think? No, not really, as I planned on spending more in order to get more sales.
The AdWords changes with regard to Affiliate ads is having an impact. Not particularly negative but I’m running experiments still using the merchant URL as well as my own site yet no matter what I do, I can’t get the impressions, and therefore clicks, up.
The experts out there, most notably Perry Marshall, have advocated for some time the need for Affiliates to build their own sites. Too true, but I’m still not clear as to whether this is making difference with this particular campaign. Perhaps my site content isn’t unique enough?
It’s going to be an interesting few months now as Affiliate jockey for position and the more pro-active merchants come up with better ways to support their affiliates rather than just providing them with a choice of 3 banners! Dynamically created, customised web sites anyone?
