I received the email from Jeremy today (12th April 2006)
saying that his new book, High Performance Affiliate
Marketing, was now available. I'd had the benefit of
reading a sample chapter a couple of weeks earlier and whilst
not in the market for another affiliate how-to book, I
was impressed by the sample chapter and Jeremy's credentials.
He earned over $1 million in commissions last year and, even
taking into account acquisition cost, this is very impressive
by any stretch.

Book Review
The book runs to 141 pages,
however it is formatted with an extremely generous
dollop of white space throughout. I'm not one for
quantity over quality but it did seem a bit odd to have an
entire section of just a few lines on a page by itself.
It starts with the obligatory introduction to
affiliate marketing and quickly gets into covering how to
find products to sell. Following on from this
is a section on keyword research and probably the most useful
section here was the part on pages 42-45 that categorises
keywords and explains which of these affiliates should
avoid.
Jeremy then goes on to discuss how to build
websites that sell and the various types of site an affiliate
could choose from, i.e. content, review, comparison, hybrid and
directory.
The book concludes with driving traffic to your
site with emphasis on organic search and
pay per click, specifically Yahoo Search
Marketing and Google AdWords.
It is nicely written and very easy to
read. You may make it to a second mug of coffee but
not much more!
I would say that it is aimed at new
affiliates or people looking to make their first move
into this market. Like so many of these 'how to...'
books, High Performance Affiliate Marketing
has a lot of bases to cover but can't possibly get into the
nitty gritty detail. This is perfectly fine to get going and,
for the vast majority of affiliates, could well be all you'll
ever need.
However, if you're past the stage of wondering
how to select a market, build a site and start driving traffic,
you may be a little disappointed with the
high level introductory approach of this book.
If you've already started using Google AdWords, for instance,
then you'd be far better off investing in one of the specialist
AdWords books that are
on the market. If organic search is your thing, then get
yourself a book on SEO.
Conclusion
The book has just gone on sell at
$49.95 and at this price is good value for money. This is
reported as a special offer with the quoted price of $99.95.
Sales ploys to one side for the moment, I would think that is a
bit on the high so if the offer has gone, I would think twice
before spending that much.

If you are already working full-time or
making a good part-time income, I would suggest you
save your money and look to improve in
specific areas, as mentioned above. However, if you're
new to the industry, or still haven't made any
significant commissions from your affiliate efforts, then I
would recommend investing in this:
